August Favourites

The last month has seen the re-vamp of this blog meaning I've been paying a little bit more attention to the products I've been using and what I have/haven't liked than I would normally. I probably won't share the months favourites with you every month because it would get a bit repetitive seeing as though I tend to stick to the products I love like glue. I don't actually buy new products very often either so it would be a bit of a waste of time to share with you exactly the same as the previous month! That being said, if there's new things I've been loving I'll definitely do little updates to let you know! So without further ado, here's my favourites from the month of August.

This month my love for Lush has grown even more which I hardly thought possible. I've got a couple of things to share with you from Lush today but top of my list has to be the Ultrabland Facial Cleanser that I talked about in my post last week. It's such a fantastic product and I can really see why people love it so much. Ultrabland is definitely going to be a staple of mine from now on. You can see why I loved it so much by reading last week's post here.

For my hair I've been loving R&B Hair Moisturiser from, you guessed it, Lush. I've got a post on this stuff coming soon but it really has been a life saver. I find it works best on my hair when it's dry so in the morning, after I've brushed through my hair, I just rub some of this between my fingers and then run it through my hair. It completely calms any frizz and encourages the slight natural curl in my hair which means my hair looks neat and tidy without me having to anything with it. If you have trouble with frizzy hair that's a little bit curly but not quite enough I'd definitely recommend this product. I absolutely love it!

I've also been loving the L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil for my hair. I tend to use this at night and I just run a tiny bit through the lengths and ends of my hair. I find it's great for keeping hair healthy and shiny which can be pretty difficult for me with my over dyed ends! This is the first hair oil I've tried so I'm not too sure how it compares to others but it's definitely a great product!

I tried out a new nail polish this month that's been sitting in my room for a while untouched. There's a review of it coming soon, don't worry, but I found it to be a lot better than I was expecting. It's from the super cheap Laura Paige brand that I found in The Co-Operative Pharmacy a while back that I've found to be really good so far! It's a beautiful, greeny blue, metalic colour and I found it lasted about a week without chipping! It's in the shade 01 Aqua Blue for anyone wondering.

Last but not least, I tried my first fresh face mask from Lush and absolutely loved it. I don't have a photo of this I'm afraid as I used it all up before I got a chance to! I tried The Sacred Truth (a recommendation from one of the employees there based on the fact I have dry skin) and I absolutely loved it. I'm not really one for face masks so I don't really know all that much about them but let me assure you, my skin felt incredible after using this. I'd definitely recommend it and I would've gone and re-purchased it if I wasn't so keen to try out some of their other ones.

So there's my favourite products from the last month. I hope you liked this post, let me know if you'd like to see more of this type of thing on here and let me know if you've tried any of these products and what you thought of them!

Ultrabland Facial Cleanser from Lush

Lush describe this as one of their 'cult products' and on the packaging it says it's 'the Lush founders' No 1 Desert Island Product' which, naturally, meant I had high expectations, but boy, did they deliver.

I came across this product while in store chatting to one of the lovely employees about face masks as she tested some of the back of my hand and she asked if I'd tried it. She tested it on the back of my hand and then gave me a sample pot and I think it's very telling that I went back to buy it about a week later. I also think it's telling that when I bought it, almost every single employee in the shop couldn't help but say 'is that Ultrabland? Oh my goodness I love it so much, you'll love it!'.

So what is Ultrabland? It's a very easy way of taking your make up off and cleansing your skin that is perfect if you're quite lazy with your skin (like me) but like to pretend you're not (like me). You get some of the product and put it all over your face, including eyes - this stuff even gets off water proof mascarra, and then wipe it off with a warm, damp cotton pad or flannel. It really is that simple.

I have quite dry skin and this is one of the only products I've ever found that doesn't leave my skin feeling tight after I've used it. Every night I notice how soft my skin feels when I take my make up off and there is no doubt in my mind it's all down to this bad boy. If I'm having a particularly lazy night I don't bother using anything other than this product, although I do usually use a bit of moisturiser afterwards just because I want to minimise how dry my skin is.

Another thing the packaging on this says is that if you have particularly problem skin, using nothing but Ultrabland for a month will sort it right out. I've not tried that but from my experience of the product I would not be surprised.

I can definitely see why this is a 'cult product' and it deserves all of the attention it gets. I think I might find it difficult to use a different make up remover ever again! Luckily this stuff isn't too expensive (£6.95 for 45g or £10.95 for 100g) and lasts for ages! The girls at Lush told me this product stays fresh for about 14 months and I honestly think it might take me that long to get through it!

Have you tried Ultrabland? Let me know what you thought in the comments! If you're in Lush any time soon don't be afraid to ask for a sample of this so you can see for yourself how fab it is!

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints

I've never been a fan of Barry M nail polishes. They get a lot of hype online and I've never really understood why. I've owned 2 of their regular polishes for a while now and I've found both to be far too much effort to bother with as they took about 7 coats to be opaque and as someone who has very little patience, I just couldn't be bothered with it.

Keeping that in mind, I'm not entirely sure what prompted me to buy one of their Gelly Hi-Shine polishes but boy am I glad I did. A few months ago I purchased the pink one in the shade Dragon 314. The colour is a lovely, strong pink but it was the formulation of it that I fell in love with. These nail paints have a very opaque look although they do go on quite thick which I'm not bothered about at all if it means a good colour. The main thing I love about them is the fact that because they're designed to be similar to the gel finish you can get from nail salons, the finish is glossy without the need for a top coat and more importantly, they last for AGES without chipping. I'm talking like 2-3 weeks here. For me this is brilliant because I play guitar almost every day meaning my nails usually chip very quickly on my left hand but I've finally found a nail polish that doesn't!

Because I fell so in love with the pink I went out in search of a new red (it is no secret that red is my favourite colour and I was in desperate need of a red nail polish that was not old and gross). I found 'Blood Orange 405' which, despite the name, is most definitely red and while looking found the beautiful light blue which is the shade 'Huckleberry 414'. I don't think I've ever loved a nail colour as much as I love Huckleberry and I mean when my nails need re-painting I've been taking it off and repainting the same colour. It's beautiful and seems to look lovely with whatever colour outfit I'm wearing. Perfect!

I really can't recommend these nail polishes enough. The colour range is huge and I'm sure I'll be buying more at some point but most importantly, they're super affordable - £3.99 each! Definitely worth it if you ask me!

The Comforter Bubble Bar from Lush

As the name suggests, it would appear that this product is the comfort blanket for most 'lushies' out there, including myself. I remember trying it years ago (I mean many years, we're talking pre-teen years) and when I went to Lush for the first time in years a few months ago it was the product I gravitated towards.

There are so many reasons I love this product but I'll try and limit this post to just a few. First off, the smell. I'm completely hopeless at describing smells and you can read on the Lush website (link at the bottom of the post) what is in it and get a rough idea from that but just trust me on this one, it smells amazing.

Another reason I love this product is because it not only produces bubbles, and lots of them, but the it also turns the bath water pink. Who doesn't love pink bath water? The bubbles are super long lasting on this one too. I don't think I've ever been sat in the bath and all the bubbles have disappeared, no matter how long I spend reading!

One of the biggest reasons I love this though is definitely that it is by far the best value for money when it comes to bubble bars from Lush. I know what you're thinking, Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds and Brightside are exactly the same size and shape as The Comforter, meaning they're the same value for money but in my opinion, this one smells far nicer meaning it's way more worth the £4.50.

The Comforter doesn't need to be used all in one go and typically I manage to get somewhere between 4 and 6 baths out of each. Definitely worth £4.50!

Do you love The Comforter? Have you got any suggestions for bath products for me based on my love of this one? Let me know in the comments!

An Apology

Although I was aware when starting this blog I probably wouldn't be able to post things super regularly, I did have plans to post more than I did. Which is why I've decided to revisit it and try and make something of it that I'm actually proud of! As for the not posting for over a year, all I can say is sorry.

It's been a year since my last post so to fill you in quickly on what's happened in the life of Luce I started a new school where I'm far happier, became a semi-professional musician instead of it just being my hobby and have begun the process of applying to university, by which I mean I've stressed about what I want to study, where I want to go, what matters to me in choosing a university and much more. If you can think of something related to university, I've worried about it, probably in the last week. I'd give you a more detailed run down of everything that has happened in this last year but there are posts over of my other blog (click here) that pretty much explain everything.

So that's my little update for you with a quick update of what my face looks like these days in case any of you were curious. I  hope you're all well, don't forget to say hi in the comments! That's it from me for today, hopefully you'll hear from me soon!
